Pflueger patriarch spool size

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I will be pulling the trigger on a patriarch soon and was curious between the 2500 and 3000 series spools. Are they the same size like the stradics? I'm assuming not based on the limited pieces of information I've been able to find. I'm thinking the 3000 series will be good for 8-10 lb flouro for smaller soft plastics, shakey heads, etc. Which size would you recommend and are the spools the same size?

Pflueger spools are all sized smaller than a comparable Shimano counterpart, i.e., a size 30 pflueger is smaller than a 3000 shimano. The numbers are not standard. Check the specs on the site for the size you need, given the line test, drag,  retrieve rate, and reel weight you're looking for:

I would not go up to 10lb fluoro or mono on a size 30 patriarch, stay about 8 and under or a 35 would be better. I have a last-gen patriarch size 35, although I use braid. It's not a huge reel and still pretty light.

Great. Thank you for that. Looks like the 35 size is right for me.
