Swapping out curado 70 handle for larger one?

Featured Replies

I have 3 curado 70 reels that I’d like to swap on the handle for a larger one (big hands and it feels somewhat awkward). Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find a larger handle and other compatible models that fit the curado 70? Thanks in advance!

Anything Shimano will fit.  The main thing that I didn't like on that handle was the small knobs.  You can order knobs from larger reels at fishshop.shimano.com. Don't forget to order the seals that cover the screw on each knob.  The 84mm shank on that reel is perfect.

yes sir...i have 4 of the 70's and bought 4 of the Citica I (same as Curado I's) handles since they have bigger knobs....much better than the smaller handles that came with the 70's. I now have the perfect reel!

Are you looking for longer handle or bigger knob. I was in the same situation not too long ago. As far as I know the longest handle from Shimano that will fit curado 70 without any modification or other parts needed is Metanium XG handle 96 mm (curado 84mm).

Another option is to get third party handle like carbon fiber one to save some weight and get Shimano knob. Third party you have to make sure to get 7x4 mm center hole.

As of now I have third party (90mm) that I ordered for my scorpion 70 on my curado 71(lefty)  but will soon replace with Metanium XG handle. I need longer handle and bigger knob to be able to reel in fish more comfortably when using this only lefty one I have.

Thanks guys. I love the 70 reels, but both the handle and knobs feel so small in my hands. Looks like I’ll go with either the citica handle or metanium handle.
