Creaking noise in NRX rod

Featured Replies

I have a NRX 894c rod pretty new and I noticed today that it is making a creeping noise when pressure is applied it’s strange almost as if the noise is coming from the first guide or the blank Iv never heard a rod make a creaking noise ? Especially on a 575$ rod .....? Anyone know what this could be pretty annoyed

Like when I’m reeling in my jig I hear it bad cause it’s heavier when my rods up at a 1oclock angle like straight up

The rod can flex in the handle end and may make some noise. Whatever it is it isn't good! Check each guide for any movement and contact Loomis rods and let them explain it to you. I would insist on a replacement rod at their cost!

Good luck,

Tom

most likely the epoxy from the first guide is cracked a bit where it meets the rod.

I had an E6X rod do this on the first spinning guide so when I cast it made a 'click' every time.

I exchanged it for another. I have a St. Croix Avid that does this as well.

it won't affect the operation of the rod, the flexcoat does crack a bit over time as the rod is used and flexed. however, on a rod this pricey you might want to exchange it for another.

as a test press on the guide that you think is doing it, you should be able to recreate the flex and recreate the sound if that is what is doing it. most likely it is.

Is it more of a rattling sound almost like something broke of inside the rod and rattling around every time you move it?

My understanding is that this is common with that brand of rod and it will go away with use.  There is a thread over at the TT forum with a lot of info about this issue you can dig up to read more if you like.

Oh really that’s strange could you link it on here for me ?
