Figured I'd get an opinion to see what the best course of action would be for repairing this guide on my Shimano Expride. Not sure exactly how this happened, but would it be safe to attempt to bend this guide back and solder in place? Or should I take to an experienced builder to replace the top guide? The blank itself seems to be structurally sound and intact. Looks like the tip "slipped" out, possibly from the tip jamming into something or maybe having the drag set too tight when transporting the rod?

Whatever you do, do not solder that tip back in place. Way too much heat for the blank to withstand.

Replace it.

Easy fix your self.  All you need is a new tip top, lighter, and either hot glue or actually rod building epoxy. Plenty of you tube videos.

I’ll watch some videos and see if I’d be confident to do it myself. A friend of mine attempted to replace be time in one of his rods in the past and it did not go well. I think he may have used too much heat to the point that he damaged an inch of the blank by pretty much “melting” it.

You only need maybe a 5 count of heat with the lighter to get it unstock.  Take a pair of plyers and as you heating it up pull on the tip top carfully ( you don’t need a lot of force to do this).

You might be able to take it to your local tackle shop and get it replaced. Like ghotti said do not try to solder it.

do not use rodbuilding epoxy to attach the tiptop.  Too risky if you have to remove it again. Use rodbuilding tiptop cement which is a hot melt adhesive.
