Zoom Brush Hogs

Featured Replies

Bait Monkey has been trying to get me to purchase some of these. How good are they? Whats a good productive way to fish them? Carolina,Texas rig or weightless. Im thinking of putting the Senkos away for a while and giving these a try, depends on how much confidence I can get from using them.

one of the best baits out there. i like to fish them weightless if i can. i also use the baby's more then the big ones, seems to catch more fish but the big ones still hit it.

I also like the babys better than the bigger version.  The large one is HUGE but i have had good luck pitching pads w/ the bigger ones.  The baby brush hogs are the best creature bait on the bass market IMHO.  I t-rig them most of the time w/ a small weight like 1/8 or 3/16 oz small.

Try the baby's to get some confidence then you can experiment w/ the larger brush hog.

I almost always fish the brush hogs on a trig(1/8oz).  Works very well and it is right up there with the beaver as far as creature baits.  As others said the babies are the best to start out with.  Big fish still hit them.  However, I will use the big ones if i'm fishing somewhere I know there are a lot of lunkers.

I use baby brush hogs more than any other type of brush hog (Zoom brand). I like them on both the texas rig and carolina rig and have a lot of faith in them.

DIDO. that is how i use them and i have a heck of alot of faith in them too. ;)

They are deadly for smallies during the spawn.  Outside of the spawn I like to Trig them unpegged with a bead around cover and on the edges of breaklines.  Very productive bait.

I may have to give the *** a try.  The one thing I dont like about Zoom stuff is that it does smell suspiciously like plastic!!  ;)

I prefer the babies also.  I like the brush hawg alot.  It's more and more becoming my creature bait of choice.  The big ones are definately situational.  I dont use them often.  Just too bulky.  I will use them when I'm pitching or flipping heavier weights, but even then I'd prefer to use the babies.

The Baby Brush Hog is probably the 3rd best flipping and pitching bait out there.  I like to trig them w/ a 1/8 oz. sinker unpegged. Great when flipping mats of vegetation or wood in stained to muddy water.

I fished for 6 hours this morning.  I only caught two fish.

I caught them both on a T-Rigged Brush Hog.

What about the twirl tails? I have read somewhere, thet they have a tendency to wrap around stuff and then end up getting torn off. Anyone experience this? Also whats a good all around color to use? I can get them in Watermelon/red flake. How productive is that for a color?

I like the Brush Hog and Baby Brush Hogs on Texas or Crigs.  I have equal success with both baits on either rig.

As for colors, Watermelon, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Candy are my best colors.

I like to t-rig the baby brush hog it's killer on Kentucky Bass; watermelon neon is by far my best color.

I like them, but don't care for the Baby versions.

The green sunfish around here peck at almost anything and the larger versions keep them away somewhat.

I managed to catch a 5" green sunfish on a 10" plastic worm.

I like to fish the big brush hogs on a Pro Jobe jighead rigged weedless. They are great in thick grass.
