Mcpherson, KS state lake

Featured Replies

Anyone ever fished here? A couple buddies and I are thinking of meeting up there ( equalish driving distance for all ) and camping/fishing it for a few days. From the reports I've read, seem to be big bass in it. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Big bass in a little lake. Tough to get many bites but they're certainly in there. Never personally fished it but have a buddy that lives nearby that fishes it often and has caught many good ones. Seems to do well on frogs and toads this time of year there.

Thanks for the info!  I've got a little 9 foot trolling motor boat thinking of taking. Seemed like a good size lake for getting around it with that or walking bank. Set up camp and do some of both.

That size boat is fine, I've had the 10' out there many times.

Just don't get disappointed if you find 5-7+ other boats there on the weekend along with a trailer park full of people camping (fishing from the bank). I only go mid-week maybe twice a year now and there's still 3-4 boats out there.

But my PB (7.2 lbs) came from here 16 years ago.

Have fun.

It's s great lil lake gets a lot of pressure from the bank fisherman and campers if your not out there before they All arise. I launch my 19 ft champ there with ease so a lil boat great out there throw ya a frog and a black and blue plastic of any sort will work the best and yes there are some big ones in there. My 4 yr old caught one last week that was 5.6 on a spinnerbaits made his day lol good luck
