Tiny torpedo vs baby torpedo vs chug bug for largemouths/peacocks/snakeheads

Featured Replies

Travelling to Florida for two weeks, and while I'm there I want to try some freshwater ponds and canals for exotics, like snakeheads and peacock bass. So, which of those lures in the title would you choose when going for these species?

Tight lines

Someone once told me the best bait to use in Florida, is live shrimp.

Careful though cuz everything eats it

I've had decent sized smallmouth put a hurt on a Tiny Torpedo. I can't imagine what a peacock would do it. ?

Peacock bass like propbaits as well as poppers, jerkbaits, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, jigs, etc.Snakeheads will hit the same lures a bass will hit but I have done best with hollow belly frogs and soft plastic frogs.

Sounds like I'll pick up a few tiny torpedos to try out. Do you have a color that works best in SoFL?

Caught a lot of bass on the Tiny T...great lure...caught some nice bass with the chug bug...the little one...using the cadence chug bug (let it rest) chug bug (let it rest)...strikes are explosive...

good fishing...

Choose whatever color you feel most confident with. For line I like to use 8-12 pound test mono when I using the Heddon Torpedos. I prefer using the baby torpedo over the tiny torpedo.

another bait I use is a Devils Horse.......around the edges of grass lines, pockets, any ambush point. faster the better on the retrieve.peacocks will chase down a bait like a freight train. good luck.
