Transducer Mounting

Featured Replies

I need to install the sonar transducer that come with my Eagle Cuda242 onto my 12' jon boat. This boat is carried to and fro in the back of my pickup and sometimes is loaded and unloaded by one person. The tranducer would be knocked off in no time if I mounted it by the book on the transom. Im not too crazy about it being mounted to the trolling motor as it is removed prior to loading and unloading and the wires will surely be a hassle. Ive considered the suction cup mount but I just dont see it sticking to the rough hull surface. I was thinking about making some type of removable apparatus that could be fitted to the transom for quick install and removal, or some type of apparatus that could be raised and lowered. Having a trailer would solve alot of problems but thats not going to happen soon. Any ideas or suggestions appriciated. :)

Get a piece of 1x3 spruce longer than the hieght of your xducer. Install xduser at end then buy a C clamp and use to clamp board to transom.

Buy some of those plastic cable holder things to mange your cable.

I used this system for years and had no problems.

Glue a small piece of plexiglass where you would like to have the transducer. The plexiglass is very smooth and will hold the suction cup almost indefinitely if the rubber cup does not have cracks or rough edges. This will allow you to put the transducer almost anywhere. I have mine on the side up by the front 'full' seat with the portable depth sounder sitting on the front half seat. You do not say but if you are using a gasoline motor, then you would have to remove before heading across the lake but the system is very portable.

Hey thanks for the great ideas. I really like that bracket from BPS. Think I will try to make one like it. Thanks again! :)
