My Legalis LT arrived in the mail and when I was unscrewing the handle for storage, I noticed this strange part on the screw that holds the handle on. I have used many spinning reels but have never seen this before. It’s not important but I was just very curious of the function. It’s #68 on the schematic I believe.

It's a bushing. The diameter of the opening in the reel is larger than the threaded shaft. The bushing not only helps to  line up the shaft with with the handle, it allows the handle to be folded in without removing the knob. You can back off the knob, fold the handle and keep the reel in one piece. It also helps to prevent over tightening the knob.

Thank you, how much should it be tightened, I don’t want to break anything by over tightening it 

1/8-1/4 turn after making contact should hold it. No need to bear down on it.
