IMO i dont think it really matters as long as its heavy enough. on my 14 foot v-hull  i use a 15 pound weight from my old weight set. works great ;D

I use a 10 lb mushroom on my 14ft fiberglass.  In light breeze it holds just fine in heavy wind i have to let out 4 times the water depth in anchor rope and it hold pretty good.  If the wind is over 20mph I'm not fishing there anyways.

I like how the mushroom comes up clean or can be cleaned easily by redunking a few times.

I also use a very thin cheap rope.  I think it is a 3/16  Solid Braid Nylon Rope good for about 500 lb.  Even this thin it is still stronger than needed.  It came as a 50 ft spool from Lowes for $3.  I keep the spool for winding and storage.  Its compact  The rope has a fair amount of stretch to it.  This is a benefit as it helps the anchor hold in place and absorbs some of the shock from a bouncing boat.

I have a 1236 jonboat and use a 15# mushroom anchor. With a 10# mushroom anchor I had to let enough rope out for the anchor to be pulled over on it's side to hold the boat in 15 mph+ winds. With the 15# I can usually let it straight down and it will hold most of the time. I use the floating hollow braided polypropylene rope in 3/16.

I make my own anchors. All you have to do is have some quickcrete, a 4"-6" diameter Piece of PVC pipe, an end cap and loop bolt. Mix the crete pour it in the pvc pipe with the end cap on then insert the loop bolt and there you go you have a really cheap anchor that works really well.

I agree the 15# mushroom will allow you to use shorter rope thus keeping me over what I wanted to anchor over. I prefer to use 3/8 braided road because if you get hung up and you will the 3/8 rope will not hurt your hands. Home made anchors will not dig in under windy conditions.

It isn't going to take much at all for that little boat, provided you do it right.  Ideally, your anchor rode (all the rigging for it, including line, chain, shackles etc.) needs to be 4 - 6 times the water depth.  

We fish out of 12-14 ft Jon and Semi V-hull rowboats on the NYC reservoir system. Presently we have two different anchors. The 1st one is a 15 lb mushroom for rocky bottoms. For weedy reservoirs we prefer a 12 lb river anchor.

I keep a folding grappling anchor under the front seat to be legal but never use it (smallest, most compact anchor out there).  I have 2 drift anchors that I use constantly.
