Scrounger Head In Weeds

Featured Replies

Never fished one but would like to try em out. How do they come through weeds? Are they a deep open water only lure. And what about stumps and trees? Thanks

They tend to deflect well off cover but if they touch any kind of weeds they get choked immediately. The 90 degree line tie just isnt a style that lends itself to coming out clean. If it was me I would throw a belly weighted swimbait tied on with a uni-knot.... either that or a  swim jig. The both will come through better than a scrounger.

Since they don't have a weed guard and are an exposed hook, I prefer them for weed edges or above them, not in the weeds themselves.

Look into paycheck nose jobs around weeds.  If they still make them.

The long collar models come through wood very well, weeds/grass mats not at all due to the hook eye line tie. The bill does a good job of protecting the hook from rocks, trees, brush etc as long as you keep it moving forward, don't Stop it and fall down into cover.
