Do you think I have enough line to fill/partially fill another reel?

Featured Replies

I have a spool of 30lb power pro braid that I put onto a Daiwa Fuego CT, and there's still line on it though I can't exactly tell how much. I brought it to Cabelas and it was spooled practically to capacity. Do you think there is enough left to decently fill an Abu Garcia silver max?

Put some backing on and you'll have plenty

I've wondered this myself about many leftover spools. This will only work if you have two of the exact same bait casters that are empty. Put all the braid left on the reel you aren't going to use. Then fill it the rest of the way with "backer" only now it's "fronter". Then run it from the first reel to the second and wala... filled to perfection.

That's actually genius! I have a big 'ol spool of 12lb monofilament, do you think that'll work as "backer"?

I use mono or old fluoro that I'm taking off for backing. I use the old spool one backwards to fill the next correctly trick a lot.

Hope so.  Just about every reel I have that I put backing on has 12# mono for backing.  I've never gotten into the backing casting or with a fish on.
