Whats better for Senko Style baits T-Rig or Wacky

Featured Replies

When I first discovered senko Style baits,I threw them exclusively T-Rigged and at the pond I first tried em out on, I absolutely slayed em.

I tried em Wacky for the first time this year and on my first or second cast I boated a 5 pounder. Now im stuck on wacky rigging these baits and its pretty productive(although 98% of the fish are dinks),Ive even caught some nice fighting spawning Green Sunfish.

In everyones opinion, what is more productive? T-Rig or Wacky rig? Which produces a better action?

No doubt both methods catch fish, but Ive put Trigging weightless aside and am now a wacky rigger.

Whats everyone elses opinion?

Oh yeah I almost forgot:I know when T-rigging the Senko style bait weightless, it has a little wiggle in the tail thats attractive to the fish, but what is the action of a wacky rigged Senko that turns the fish on?

the action of the "Wacky" rigged stick bait is that both ends wiggle as it falls.

Hmm...

Before starting an argument, let me state the Triton21 boated his PB (8.9 lbs) at Lake Fork wacky rigged. LBH has had TREMENDOUS success wacky rigged. Many others on this Forum catch lots of bass and some big ones, wacky.

That said, I try to avoid little fish and I think  the action of "wacky" attracts too many. If you are having trouble catching fish or looking for numbers, wacky is probably the way to go. You will still catch some VERY nice bass, but for me, I NEVER wacky rig a Senko and I don't fish 5" baits anymore, either. The 6" Senko deters smaller fish, although you still catch them. I have been able to reduce "numbers" dramatically by going to the bigger bait.

I caught a 4 pound female on a Texas rigged Senko last week.

I caught more on a Wacky Rigged Senko in the past.

I think both work and have their places in your personal technique folder.

When fishing in a tournament, I fish Wacky.

When fishing for fun, I fish Texas rigged.

Either way, you will get bites.

Won't convince this guy that wacky rigged won't catch a biggun:

Won't convince this gal that working the Senko like a jerk bait isn't the way to go:

Won't convince this gal the a Senko on a C-rig wasn't responsible for this fish:

There is no better way to work a Senko. Use it as many ways as you can think of. Far from being a do-nothing bait, you will find this a truly dynamic bait if you put it into action. You just might get one like this.

Both.  ;)

Yes!  ;)

I have noticed, that a lot of the fish that I catch, are larger on a wacky rig!  I threw it successfully a couple days ago, even from a dock, which I have never done before.  I casted out, and was saying that I had never caught a fish, just standing on a dock, and WHAM!  I got a huge 6lber, and lost him trying to get him out of the water...  He jerked a little, and the hook slipped out of his mouth.  I am one of the few anglers, that prefers to run a barbless hook, and I lose a lot of fish at the boat.  It's all good, I am just out there for fun, and the fight, not to win any tournaments.  I want to fish a tournament, but it would be for fun, and to see where I would sit, as far as my catches go.  ;)
