Using G juice

Featured Replies

thought i'd give it a shot.    do you keep it on recirc while using this stuff?

If you haven't already bought it, try using hydrogen peroxide in your live wells. It's a lot cheaper and puts air into the water. About 1/4 cup per well.

I have my pumps running all day when I derby fish, on auto, not recirc. I’ve used G juice and please release me with great results.

I have not but some guys in my club swear by it, here is what they do

Fill live well half full of ice

A certain amount of peroxide depending on livewell size

Add Gjuice

And they then run on recirc all day after initially filling them.

I've heard others disagree  but these guys rarely turn in dead fish. The arguments made were about ammonia building up in the well

It's a rare day that I lose fish ... but I also don't fish very deep most often.  Don't use ice as I feel fishing coming from warm/hot water into a cold bath just ain't good.  I know I don't like going from hot into sudden cold.  I do use G-juice too and keep the ol livewells going on auto and add fresh water every so often.

We must run the fill pump continuous and allow the access water to run out the overflow.

No recirculation of the water allowed.

I assume that in my case, any additives would go out the overflow and be of no help?

In a nutshell....Yes it would go out the overflow along with the water. It would be lost by dilution with the water so the fill rate would dictate the loss rate. The slower the fill the slower the loss. If you can stay legal with a low fill rate then maybe it would last an outing with a top off? It would make an interesting experiment.
