Ok, here is my situation.  I currenly live in an apartment.  They won't let me park my boat in the parking lot.  The garages they offer on site are only 16ft deep.  My 17' basstracker won't fit.  >  

So now I have been looking at outdoor storage places, off site.  The huge problem I'm running into is that, if I use an off-site storage place, they don't have an outlet for me to use, thus my batteries on my boat will never be charged.  > >    

I didn't live here last year, so I didn't have this problem.  

What do you guys suggest that I do?  

    -Use a solar charger when I park it at an off-site outdoor storage place?  (that is about all I can come up with)

Sounds like the only thing that would be reliable under these circumstances would be to pull the batteries, take them home and charge them there.  Don't think I'd trust the "solar" chargers to get a full charge.

Yep the solar panels would not work for ya in that kind of a situation.

Luggen the batreys back and forth would get old for me quick.

I'd try to look around some more, maybe place an Ad in the paper on what your looken for, for the boat.

Shop around.  There's storage places where you can store the boat inside and have power.  These aren't "boat/RV" storage places, these are places like Surguard.  I did this with 2 different storage places.  Your independant storage facilities are usually the best bets.

Also there ARE "boat/RV"storage places around that offer covered or indoor storage w/power.

There are options.  You just have to search around.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I'll just keep looking around for something that might work.  I might have to just pull the batteries each time and charge them at home.  

I do like the indoor storage idea, but I'm guessing that the monthly costs to rent it will be high.

goto tackle tour . com and in the tips section there is a guy that has a diagram for charging your battery while you trailer it. He has the same issue as you. Sorry for not putting a link but it wont allow me to link to tackle tour.

Not sure if you wanna go this route, but alot of the senior citizens I work for rent out their garages. Most of them don't drive so it lets them bring in a little extra money and you get a parking space. So asking around especially at a church might help or a senior's group.

you could try craigslist.org to see if someone in your area has a garage for rent.

The solar charger would only help if the batteries are already charged.  It helps keep a charger when it's sitting for a long time, not to charge a battery up if it is low.

How wide is the storages at your place?  You said they are 16ft long, but how wide?  if they are wide enough you might be able to park the boat at a slight angle and it will fit.  

If all else you might have to unhook the batteries and take them with you and charge them inside your apartment.

It might be worth a try and call or go to some other apartments and see if they have a gated trailer storage and see if you can rent it, even thou you don't live their they might rent a spot to you if the don't have a lot of trailer rentals.  It's more money for them.

Or if you are in a fishing club or have a really good friend, see if they can rent the spot in their apartment and you pay them.  My dad lives in a apartment near 2 lakes here, and I'm 40 minutes from the lakes.  So he puts my boat under his name and gives me a extra key.  Then I just have to drive up and pick it up and park it when I want to, and all the trailers are locked up in a gated area in the back of the apartments and are safe.

Apartment???  You didn't get kicked out of the house did you??   ;D

This is exactly what I had to do awhile back.  I was lucky enough that I was able to work out a deal with the manager so I could get my boat out early.
