jon boat to bass boat

Featured Replies

after looking over all the jon boat builds on here i decided to overhaul mine. i got most of my ideas from fluke masters build. it definatly was a learning experiance but i was a lot of fun to do. i started off with a 16 ft lowe with a 54 inch beam and decked it with plenty of sturage and leg room.let me know what you think i now flukes pics helped me out a bunch so maybe these will help someone else.

it hit 32 on the gps with just me in and a full tank of gas plenty fast enough for me in this boat anyway

Is that a steering column u set up? ( the little lever on the left(right in the pic) of the seat? If so can u post a detailed pic on how u did that?

yeah that is the steering setup the boat had a stick steer on it when i bought it i just adapted that setup. it is a 2x8 that i mounted to the deck with four L-brakets

the picture also shows the seats on hinges im planning on putting rubbermade storrage bins under them to creat dry storrage. the long mounting bolts will be cut down that is just a temparary fix

Lookin sweet man, lookin sweet. 8-)

that's cool, great job! ;)

Very Nice!  I love looking at Jon Boat projects!

What Cujo said X2 ;)! Seems you do really good work and great pics. I bet that motor does kick it in the butt pretty good.

A lot of folks have shown a lot of good ideas on here...

Looks great just be certain the stick steering is thru bolted to the deck.  You don't want that coming off while you are flying down the lake.  Also check that you have the correct one for that outboard.  I think some states have regulations about the max HP you can run with stick steering.  Don't want the man busting your chops on the water.

Keep up the good work.

You also might want to cut those bolts on the backside of the stick-steer mount shorter and put some type of plastic cap on them.  Those things are bound to give you a nasty scatch sticking out like that.
