yet another night fishing question
Also, darker baits. Most of the baits that I use at night are black.

How many do you catch on average?
On my home lake, I usually catch 20-30 if I'm onto a pattern for the dinks ;D If I'm catching quality bass, it's usually around 5-10 nice bass.
-
Release or not to release?
Keeping it and donating it to BPS. Not because I don't want anyone else to catch it, but because I live on the lake that I would most likely be fishing when I caught it and I don't want everyone and their brother out there fishing and trying to catch it. More of a crowd control thing.

Anybody else having trouble receiving Bassmaster Magazine??
I used to have the same problem getting it. I haven't had a single problem since I cancelled my sub ;D Who needs them when there's BR!

Fishing Courtesy
I took my 7 year old out in the boat last weekend. We caught a few and some were pretty decent (3-5lbs). When we were working along a bank on our way back to the dock, a couple guys came by in a jon on the outside of us and ask if we were having any luck. Before I could even respond, my son said "not much. We caught a couple dinks earlier". I was so proud. Also, I'm not advocating violence or risking someone's life over someone's ignorance, but I rarely have issues with rudeness while fishing. I have a CC permit and always care my 45acp on a side holster that is clearly visible. I think people see that and think twice before being rude.

What knot do you guys use?
Palomar 90% of the time. Improved cinch the other 10%

night lures
I fish larger plastics at night. Like 12" or bigger and some topwater frogs. All in darker colors.

Brand Baitcasters
I agree with hawgchaser and skunkedagain. I have 4 BPS extreme combos. I bought 2 last year when they were on sale and 2 this year. I've also got some good deals on a couple pflueger and daiwa baitcasters on ebay. Never had a problem with them. Just make sure you keep them maintained and lubed properly.

at what age can you start teaching a boy to fish?
Both my boys started when they were 2. Just don't expect their attention span to be very long. I would take them to some different holes where the bream were thick or take them to my mom's stocked catfish pond and let them pull them in one after another. My dad started me out really young. In Michigan, we used to fish for walleye from the shore and I couldn't even reel when a fish was on. So, I would just start backing up. I was just under 2. Now my oldest son (he's now almost 7) is the best fishing partner I have. I bought him one og those AVS youth baitcaster setups and he's learned to throw it pretty well. His PB LMB is 7lbs 2oz. He caught it late last year.

Reviving Bass after catch?
I also take pictures of several of the bass I catch regardless of the size for the same reasons mentioned earlier. Most of the time I use my cell phone, but I have my camera with me for larger fish. I also put them in my livewell immediately after catching while I get everything ready. Usually, they are only out of the water for a few seconds this way.

Leaking aluminum boat
JB Weld does not flex well and may start leaking again depending on where the leaky rivet is at.

how big?
I'd have to agree with everyone else. She's either side of 10. Nice fish!

3 Bank On-board Charger Recommendation
No one is suggesting you or any one else "imagined" that you had problems with your BPS chargers. I was not suggesting a BPS. I was simply providing my direct experience with the product. Even from what I've read on the complaints, the service and replacement has been great. The same with most other chargers. Any one wanting to buy any product has to look at quality, service and price. For me, the BPS was a good deal, half the price as a higher model and good service and warranty. Now that I've had it over a year, it wouldn't be a big deal if I had to shell out another $150 for another one. It is still cheaper than the ProMariner. Take any product out there and Google the product name and complaint, etc and you'll come up with a million hits. I had a Toyota Tacoma that was a lemon and a few years later had a Tundra that was just as bad. Does that mean that Toyotas are not a reliable vehicle?

3 Bank On-board Charger Recommendation
I have to agree with Way2Slow. My father-in-law has had his BPS charger for over 3 years and no problems. Stays plugged in all the time (except when fishing, extension cord is not long enough ;D ) I've had mine a little over a year with no problems. Stays plugged in all the time.

Left work early today
Things were slow at work today. So, I decided to leave early and do a little fishing from our dock. In 2 hours I caught several dinks, a 2lb 10oz bass and a 6lb 5oz bass. The 2lb10oz was on a 5" paddle tail senko type green pumpkin/red flake and the 6lb5oz was on a 4" black and red swirl senko. Now it's gonna be hard to keep working all day tomorrow. :-/

How is the Bite after a day of Rain?
Arul, Where are you at in Florida? We had rain here all day yesterday too. I went this morning and caught 10 bass within a little over an hour. All were along the shore using a 5" weightless Senko.

Bought a CoPilot today...
I put one on my MKPD a couple of weeks ago and love it. I don't even use the foot pedal anymore. I keep the remote on a lanyard around my neck.

Transom & decking
I used a refridgerator box to make one big template for the front. I made the template 1/8" short on the sides to make room for the carpet. The plywood I used was tongue and groove on the ends. I glued 1 1/2 pieces together with construction adhesive on the tongue and groove and let it set for the recommended time. I then traced the front deck template on the big piece I glued together and cut it out and cut my hatch holes, etc in it. I had to route out the underside of the deck where the livewell is because the cooler that I used stuck up about 1/4" above the bracing. I waterproofed and carpeted the whole thing. Once it was dry, me and a buddy slid it into the old seat braces and over the aluminum angle supports from the rear. It took a little coaxing, but we got it into place. I wouldn't worry about them shifting even if you don't glue them together. Just plan it out to where one piece is held by your front seat praces and the other by the missle braces. Once you bolt them down to the braces, they can't shift. Oh, and post up some pics of your boat and the progress of your build.

Transom & decking
I have a 16' Starcraft Vhull that I did exactly the way you are describing. The front deck is still low enough that the boat is very stable in the water. Pics of my build are in the share-a-project in my signature line.

How do you make a live well for an Aluminum V-Hull boat?
I used a cooler and removed the lid. Made a frame with aluminum angle for it to sit in so it was level with the deck bracing. Then I used angle on the top between the deck bracing to hold it in. I don't think I have any pictures specifically of the livewell setup in my share-a-project in my signature below. I would use a 70 to 100qt cooler.

Pics of my boat recarpeting job
Nice job! Very clean and neat. I just got the same trolling motor and added co-pilot to it. Your gonna love that thing!

Has anybody modified an old Vbottom boat: such as flooring
See the share-a-project in my signature line for the mod I did on a 16' Starcraft last year.
