I have a 2007 Silverado (avatar) without the towing package and I am needing to know about how much it costs to install a trailer hitch. Any help??

Also, what size reciever would be best to get??

You can get the receiver hitch for less than $200. It should be the 6,000# rating with a 2" receiver. Then you need the lighting harness which may range from $6 to $50 depending on the hookups and plug. Another $40-$50 for the ball, pin and mount. Add labor if it's not a do-it-yourself job.

Do a Google search for Reese hitches.

Check your local u haul dealer. their prices are good and they will install if needed.

get a locking hitch pin also. $50 dollars, but it's cheap insurance.

instead of a locking hitch pin just buy a regular hitch and get the screw in type lock. You can find them in the boating section at walmart. I have used one since the day I bought my truck. The best thing is you can't cut the lock.

And don't forget to try and get the closest drop for the hitch to have the boat and trailer as close to level with the truck so the towing is smooth.
