Best two rods?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what would be the best two rod types with what reel gear ratios and type of line. I can cast a baitcaster and am not totally new to them.

Medium fast spinning Rod, reel and line depends on techniques but in general 10lb braid and an optional 8lb fluorocarbon leader.

Medium heavy baitcasting rod with 30lb braid to 15lb leader.

This is very general but it a step in the right direction.

For two baitcasters, a 6'6" MH fast tip and a 7' medium.  Any real around the 6.5:1 area.  Line depends on your water.  Clear recommend any good flouro in 12-15lb, or mono. I am not a braid fan except for frogs.

A medium/fast and a medium-heavy/fast with reels in the 30 IPT range will cover most typical bass fishing.  Finesse, cranking, heavy swimbaits, are when specialty tapers start to come into play.

I think to each his own. What ones is a favorite will differ to another guy. For finesse fishing I like my Avid Spinning M/ML 6'8", 6'10", 7' rods. For Crankbait fishing I like the St. Croix Premier Series Crankbait Rods in medium.

But I would not want you to run out and buy any of them because of my post or preference.

You have to aquire your own feel and most times at the tackle shop doesn't me jack. It will feel different on the water. Just have to go with gut feeling when you have them in your hand. Put a reel on it. Makes a difference. Just my two cents.
