Fedex broke my mojo!!!

Featured Replies

Came home from work wanting to get my mojo on. I orded a St. Croix Mojo Glass from BPS the other day to mate up with my Revo MGX and was eagerly awaiting it's arrival.

Sadly I was greeted by this....Tube broken on the tip end. Very cheaply taped by whomever broke it. It may have survived the journey with a better tape job?....Dang fedex!!!

I removed the cap from the handle end of the tube and gently pulled out the rod. At first I thought it survived until I pointed the tip up, sadly it has a matching bend and is barely hanging on by a thread or two.

Sorry to hear that, must be painful ? . From the way I see it taped, it appears fed ex did the damage and used tape to bandage it, and from the bend in the tube, the rod probably was already broken before the blithering oaf who broke it even grabbed the tape dispenser.

What is your recourse?

I'm working on that. I'm seeing if they can just ship a replacement to my local BPS and then I'll go down and exchange it when it arrives. BPS will take care of it no doubt about that.

I hate buying rods online as it's a gamble if they survive the shipping monkeys. I just wish I was home at the time they delivered it as I would have inspected it and refused delivery.

Very upsetting to receive a tube like that.  I had one that was at least that bad.  No tape had been applied.  You can imagine my surprise when I pulled the rod out and it was still in one piece.  I currently have 2-3 rods in my basement that were broken during shipping....plus one that I took back to Walmart.

I’m sure theyll take care of you even if it appears to be fed ex’s error.

Im actually expecting something overnight from fed ex today and fortunately, it’s a wall template for a microwave oven and not a fishing rod. Imagine if they damaged that, lol.

As fishing “compensation,” you will be rewarded with a successful first outing with your new rod. ?

I brought rod from dicks 3 times , all 3 times when the rod arrived, they are all broke in the same spot ,which is middle of the rod , snap the rod in half ...sadly

I was on Bass Pro's pro staff for 15 years.  I got a lot of rods shipped.....a lot.  All in cardboard tubes as is their standard practice.  As pro staff for CastAway rods, I had a lot of rods shipped in cardboard tubes as is their standard practice.  I have never received a broken rod.  Damaged tubes a couple of times but the rods were fine.  I'm feeling like I need to buy lottery tickets.

Having dealt with shipping companies for over a decade I can tell you I will never buy a rod online. I've seen first hand what these companies do to packages. Its barbaric. And the complaints go nowhere. Nothing is ever done about it. The company I worked for would routinely get complaints from our customers about the shape of packages received by UPS/Fedex/USPS and the poor lady who was a customer rep would try to calm them down but it was a daily grind for her. She once had to take a month off because of the stress. Fedex once destroyed a $5000 brass roller we sent out by putting a gouge in it across the length of the roller. It was crated in wood and something must have fell on top of it and smashed the crate top into tiny pieces. It was a mess.

So far i haven't had any problems with broken rods. I only buy from tacklewarehouse though.

The last rod I had shipped from a reputable online dealer had the same issue. Box was bent and damaged exposing the rod. Courier didn't even attempt to fix it before delivering to my door. It wasn't a tube like the one you have pictured (seems more durable), but more of a thin cardboard rectangular box. My rod seemed fine but only time will tell if it holds up. I wouldn't doubt it if some time down the road it broke right where the box damage was.

That tube looks thin compared to other companies. I’d like to see them break the tube American Legacy uses. It’s thick and heavy. I believe the tube itself weighs about 5 pounds.

BPS  responded quickly to my email. They're waving return shipping and sending a replacement rod. Once I get it I just have to send the broken one back within 30 days or they'll charge me for the replacement. Works for me as I'd rather not go to BPS as the bait monkey always tags along.

My Dobyns Fury I bought on ebay arrived with a damaged tube from USPS, but they at least delayed it and inspected it before delivering it.

I find a simple solution is to ask and pay for "Adult Signature Required" If the package arrived destroyed refuse it.
