Last week was sunny with temps in the 80s. Water temp was around 77 degrees. Since then we've had a serious drop in temp with the cold front and hurricane. It's been in the 50s and breezy the last few days with nights getting into the 30s. Today it's been overcast and rainy with the temp 55-60. I'm gonna hit the lake in a couple of hours. I expect the water to have dropped to around 70 degrees.

 

I'm gonna predict the conditions to be 70 degree water, slightly stained, overcast with an occasional breeze. What would you throw? What areas of the lake would you fish? 

Up here in Maine those conditions, this summer, triggered a spinnerbait bite for us. Every time we had overcast, drizzly days, throwing a chartreuse spinnerbait over submerged weeds resulted in multiple LM.

almost the same conditions here except for the 30 degree lows. i went yesterday and found high, stained water around 73 swt (down from 78 last week). caught them shallow and deep, most were holding close to docks. 

I'll be chucking a spinnerbait around weeds as soon as I leave work.  If that doesn't connect on a fish it will be move to a jerk bait to the edge of flats or any points.  If I still haven't connected it will be time to throw the Ned so I don't go home skunked. 

 

It's also 63 and raining in PA,  water temp will be in the low 60's.

When I got off the water on Saturday in Southwest, PA I said to myself, "I wish that lake had more docks."

 

I got a couple finicky bites cranking shallow but when I got a jig up under a dock (and they were way back in there) I almost had the rod ripped out of my hand.  

 

 

me and my cousin are going tomorrow, almost the same exact conditions. gonna tie on a white ice fluke jr for the docks and lay downs.....and of course a texas rig....and a war eagle spot remover. decisions decisions.

The water had dropped to 68 degrees. I got to fish for around 3 hrs before dark. I flipped jigs around laydowns, overhangs, and boat slips. Not a bite. Switched to running a spinnerbait over flats. Not a bite. Tied on a buzzbait right at dark and never got a bite. It was tough!
