How many people picked up the DC Exsence 17?

Featured Replies

I've seen some users purchased the Antares DC 16, including myself, but I haven't seen much on the Exsence.

Is there an article detailing the different kinds of DC systems Shimano uses and which reels get which system?  A little research turned up I-DC5, 4x8 and I-DC+.  I didn't see any specification for the new Curado DC.  I would assume it is not as sophisticated as the others considering the price of the Curado DC.

Although the Exsence DC is the saltwater version of the Antares DC, there apparently are some differences in the braking profiles.  https://japantackle.com/reg0000217.html

I have an older Exsence.  I don't know what the differences are between it and the new one.  Waiting to see comments from users.  I know I really like mine the little I have had it out.

No idea, but it seems the 17 Exsence isn't talked about much.

Too rich for my blood. Whenever the used market for them comes down to around $300, I may consider one.

A little info on the Exsence DC 17.......https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/4658&prev=search

The Curado DC is considered an I DC-4 hence 4 modes Maximum (least amount of braking),Braid, Fluoro and Maximum Braking (like casting into the wind)....

Same here.  Paid south of $275 and was still a bit rich for me, but I gave in anyway.  Glad I did.  Very nice reel.

Thanks for the link.  The new Exsence definitely has a different braking system than my older model.
