My spinning reel has been making noises lately. Almost sounds like the bearings. It’s not a grinding sound or feeling more so just a sound. When I use heavier lures it seems to happen. Idk if this is normal with this reel. 

I have the 100 size Mach II Speed Spin. Used it all season from trout and panfish to Bass fishing. I even caught a Smallmouth Bass over 3 and half pounds on it. No issues or sounds at all with this reel. I bank fish so this reel has been laid on the ground, wet grass and rock.

 

Could you have gotten sand or dirt in it? It does have an open spool.

No sand, only thing I can think of is water.

I gave up on the speed spin reels. had 2 of them after 1 year did the same thing. 

worked great for one year then got noisy. tore them apart and gave them a good cleaning and lube. that did not help.
