This can of worms has been previously discussed ad nauseum several times.

It's mostly on your fishing style.

Cable for dock fishing, following weedlines, working pads. So everytime you step on the trolling motor you know were it's pointing.

Electric are harder on batterys because you are using batterys to streer and run the motor. They have a flatter foot petal but you need to look at it for direction and if you leave your foot on it they spin around. They are great fishing large flats just aim Auto pilot and go and you can be anywhere in the boat.

Most bass fishing is better with cable.

I have and electric and the AutoPilot feature is Great. I never thought I would use something like that when I bought the motor, but it turns out that it is really useful. Even when you're following the shoreline or other structures it helps alot.

Cable steer motors are more responsive and quieter, but you have only 5ft of cable.  The electric steer motors are slower to turn and are noisier, but with 18ft of cable you can control it from anywhere in the boat.  The cable steers are a bass fishermans motor and the electric steers work great of walleye guys that like to troll.
