Are most mid and high end rods fast or extra fast action?

Been a proponent of mod-fast action rods for quite a while. It wasn't that long ago when virtually all high end JDM sticks were what they call regular action. Those would be what we call mod-fast.

I find mod-fast rods to better casting rods; both for distance and accuracy. If you haven't tried one for pitching, you really should do so if you have the opportunity.

A rod with this action will also land more of the fish you hook.

This, I can’t believe that an extra fast rod gives you more feel than a moderate action of the same material. It will of course put more pressure on the fish a fraction of a second quicker on the hookset, but I don’t think it is enough time to make a difference.

My one extra fast spinning rod is rod is horrible for pitching 1/4 ounce and under plastics, my accuracy and consistency goes way down with that stick. I should almost sell it, but it would be a good vertical jig rod for eyes.

I just am am surprised that is what everyone wants, or as you said the manufacturers may be driving us to this conclusion even though it isn’t the right one for some of us.

I am starting to prefer my rods to get slower in action the more powerful they are.  Most all of my Light and UltraLight rods are Fast or XFast but as they go up in power my collection gets softer.  I have a small pile of MBR rods and they are about perfect, except for the cr721, which I wish was a bit faster.
