I am currently on the market for a new jig rod. I want a heavy rod over 7 feet and with a lot of backbone, and preferably fast action. I am looking at the Lew's Custom Speed Stick casting rod which comes in a 7'3 heavy moderate fast action. I am also looking at the Lew's TP1 Speed Stick IM8 casting rod which comes in a 7'3 heavy fast action. I have done research and heard great things about both rods. The custom speed stick is 30 dollars more expensive on tackle warehouse, but I looked and I can get both at around the same price. Help!

The tp-1 is a beast of a rod. I have used it as a jig rod, but unless you are pitching 9/16-1 ounce jigs its a little over powered. Its is better as a punch/frog/heavy pitching rod. The jig rod I use for 1/4-1/2 ounce jigs is the tp-1 7' medium heavy.
