terrible motorguide reviews

Featured Replies

Shopping motors on different sites I've seen that the number of bad reviews for motorguide TM's is much higher than it probably should be.......

What's the deal? I thought there was a post a few weeks ago where everyone was raving about how much better MG is than MK.

Isolated incidents or a legitemate concern? What do you think.

If you were to run a poll  , minnkota would probably win.

MG is a good motor.  Probably isolated incidents.  Be careful of reviews and how people post them.  This goes for any product.  Some people will get a product have it a week and post a review stating how great the product is and its the best ever.  Hmmm and you only had it a week.....interesting.  Others will post negative reviews when they actually have no idea what they are talking about.  So just be careful and really analyze their comments.   Mostly its all about preference.  I've tried both and like MG better.  Basically which ever serves your purposes the best.

I personally prefer MK because of the composite indestructible shaft, I have run into so many things with my motor and the shaft really is indescructible. I was running on high in the stick marsh a few years back and just creamed a stump in the water, everything was fine.

I doubt you'd find any poll that would show MG over MK.  I have a feeling they'd be pretty even.

Customer reviews should be taken with a grain of salt as most are subjective.  I'm sure you've seen people bash certain brands of computers when the facts are they didn't protect their software properly from viruses, adware, etc.  I've seen the same thing with cars, motorcycles, etc.  I've even seen it with fishing products on this site.  I agree that you'll probably find a fairly equal number of MG and MK fans.

I had two similar situations and both times my MK shafts broke.  I'm a MG guy now.
