Daiwa Tatula 200

Featured Replies

Newb question here. Wanting to get into using 6"-8" swim baits. Would this be a good real to do so? If so, what gear ratio would be best? Thanks in advance!

Just my .02 but I’d say if you’re throwing the larger swim baits on a regular basis you should look into something with a lower gear ratio maybe 6.4ish. Buddy of mine bought a revo winch for swim baits and it seems to be handling them with relative ease.

I use the Tatula 200HD for 1-4oz swimbaits paired with a Dobyns Fury 795. I highly recommend it and I'm sure the new 200 is great as well. Mine is the 6.3:1 gear ratio. It's going to depend what you plan to do. If you plan on burning baits like bullshads or triple trouts the 7.3:1 might be advantageous, but I think the 6.3:1 is  good overall.

I bought 2 Tatula 200s this time last year, both 6.3:1s, and like them so much I just bought a Tatula 100 last night.  Zero complaints.  Used for 1-4 oz swimbaits and I fish multiple trips per week.

I my last reel was a Tatula 200 and just bought a 6.3:1 Tatula 100 2 days ago for my swimbaits. Cant wait to try it out.

Tatula 150 would be good! Unfortunately if you want a left handed reel they only have it in 7.3:1. Righty you can get a 6:1. The 150 has Mag Force Z braking the 200 does not. So IMO reel will be more versatile if you want to use it for other stuff like frogging or magnum sized top water.
