Computer Question

When posting comments on here people often mention other members. These names are highlighted to make them more noticeable. How is this done? I have no clue as to how to highlight a name in a post. I only have a vague misunderstanding of how to operate a computer anyway. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Use the 'at' symbol (shift 2 on a standard keyboard) then start typing in the name. Names will show in a list that matches. Complete the typing or click on the name you want to highlight.

Remove the first space and the parentheses.

Thanks for the info @MN Fisher. Yes I actually got it right.

Am I mistaken in doing this also sends a notification to said member? That way you can get their attention to a question or comment.

@Smokinal, yes it does, so that you get notified even if you haven't subscribed to the thread.

Thank you to @Smokinal and @MN Fisher. I would not have thought about this sending a notification to whoever was mentioned.
