Couple of months back I was going into some spare lure boxes and noticed some rust on a couple of hooks. The affected lures/box has never been out of the man cave and because I've got a lot of money tied up in tackle, a dehumidifier was moved into the room. I also ordered 4 bags of desiccant packs to add to all my boxes. The changing weather pattern over the past couple of years is presenting me with a humidity issue that I've never had to address before. I hope this stuff works.

I had an issue with my Chatterbait blades rusting at the base where they attach to the Jighead. 

A guy I work with who was from Hawaii said they would take a dab of cooking oil and apply it to their hooks. So I tried it and haven’t had any problems since.

I use the desiccant packets as well in all of my tackle boxes that have any sort of metal in them (IE: Hooks, Blades, etc.). 

Just a piece of wadded up paper towel is better than nothing.

Plano Hydroflow boxes have eliminated any rust issues.  I have a band rehearsal studio in the basement, so I've always run a dehumidifier.
