Standing on custom deck

Featured Replies

I know this may sound wierd but...Is any standing on their custom deck or do you lean on the pedestal seat? I just wondering how stable a 1436 is going to be... i.e. will i need to lean on the pedestal or can I just stand on it? I don't want to constantly end up in the drink.

i stand all the time, just make sure you have good balance

I have a 1436 and I can tap dance on it.  I have a leaning seat that I keep there when I fish 9-12 hour days but it's stable.  I'm 5'11" and 230.  Just be careful when hitting that trolling motor in the front.  If it's on high it will give you a wiggle ;D.

You just need to get out and try it.  It will take a little getting used to but not a big deal.

Thanks for the advice. I keep hedging on getting a 1436 or something bigger. If I do that then I basically won't have money for upgrades for a while.

Quick question. The 36 in 1436 means that it is 36" at the bottom of the transom correct?

That is correct bhorlings.  The 36 in 1436 is the width of the boat at the bottom.  I've got a 1232, alone I am comfortable with the stability.  When I get my wife and son in there with me is when I've gotta be a little more careful.  I sit in the back and have a 9" pedestal/seat that I use while fishing.  I try to only stand on the floor and not up on the deck, it makes it too top heavy.

Mine is that size. I stood up on the deck the other night while I had my family out. As soon as the old lady moved to do something I sat back down pretty fast. WARN ME!
