How is the Taunton River for striper fishing? Both for early season schoolies/ holdovers and mid-season full grown stripers? I have family just south of Dighton Rock so that is where I would put my kayak in. Thanks!

I think in about a month you'll see some come in. I've never fished the river but have heard of some nice 40" plus fish coming out of there

I'm willing to bet there's holdovers putting around. Find some back bays, shallow water and mud, that will warm up fast.  They will get active when the herring start running. The Taunton river has one of the best herring runs in the state.   They get some good fish, stripers and blues.

@Mr. Aquarium I haven't heard much about the herring run there so thats great to know. I'll keep in mind to look for the shallow muddy areas. Thanks!

The nemaskett river in middleborough has one of the best runs, its a tributary of the Taunton. Summer and fall theres tons of juvy herring, full blow blitzes.
