hey all i just purchased my first boat, its just a simple 12 foot aluminum and i was wondering what a good/affordable trolling motor would be?

    Congrats on the boat, I just bought my first one this year. I bought a Minn Kota Endura 55 and its been great so far. Best suggestion I got earlier was to buy the highest thrust motor you can, it will come in useful.

    I just got a Bass Pro flyer today.  They have several tmotors on sale.

    If money is no object, more thrust is always better.  

    BUT...you don't need a lot of power to push (or pull) a 12 foot jon. I use a $99, 36# thrust on my 14 foot jon and it gets around fine.

    Not much practical difference between motor guide and minn kota. Both build fine motors.
