Jointed popper?

Featured Replies

I bought a used Creek Chub Knuckle Head jointed popper in a pawn shop yesterday.  The feathered treble hook needs replaced.  Anyone use this link for Bass?  If so, is it worth the expense of a new feathered treble?

I would venture to guess that the Knuckle Head is worth putting a few dollars into, plus you can always move your dressed trebles around to other lures since they usually come in a pack. Or simply replace the back hook with a regular treble hook.

I used to own the same lure, I believe I sold it on Ebay when reducing tackle, not because it doesn't work, but because I have way too many topwater lures and just never got around to throwing it. I am sure it catches fish, its been in production for a really long time, that usually means something.

I used to have an old Mirror Lure jointed popper that was similar looking with the big mouth, dressed rear treble in a bright orange color. I remember catching a few fish on it, but I never had alot of confidence in the color so only used it in private ponds that were kind of easy. I bet they work well on generating bigger strikes, its a big lure and creates a big commotion compared to say the bigger Rebel.

Sometimes throwing something different can make all the difference.

I tie a season's worth of popper feathered trebles right around the spawn funk. Get with me if you want a couple tied, and you're not in a hurry. I'm not a fan of the KH, but I throw it for rock some cause I have some, and it works for them (what doesn't) with or without feathers.

The best thing about that Creek Chub bait is that it is heavy and you can throw it a long ways.  I have a couple, and when you retrieve it . . pop, pop, pop . .stop ..repeat, it kinda chugs, kinda walks and makes a decent commotion.  Splits the difference between a spook and a popper.
