water in batteries

Featured Replies

how much water do you put in the holes on top of the battery? i usually fill them up about 3/4 of the way.

Only distilled or purified water should be used to fill batteries. Tap water, drinking water, softened water, or well water should not be used because of possible impurity and mineral contents that can negatively affect the performance and life of the battery.

As for the correct water level, each brand and size battery is a little different. If you have one, refer to the owner's manual. If not, most of the ones I have had to fill it was "full" once the water reached to bottom of each fill tube.

**Always fill it AFTER you charge it otherwise you risk boil over.

More importantly, Thank you for serving.

Make sure the plates are covered and theres a little slot inside the cap don't fill past the slot.

haha thanks firefightn i better remember becuase i bought two batteries and my wife will be pretty upset if that happens again. and your welcome for serving. but the guys on here that are overseas as we speak should be thanked also. thanks guys. i know its hard over there and i will be back shortly.

Us distilled water if you can and make sure the plates are covered if the top of the battery is a mess there is to much water in the cells. If you are all ways adding water you are charging at to many amps or you have a leak. Just my two cents! :)
