I just received a roll of carpet padding from bass boat seats.com. I was wondering, if the shiny side of the padding goes up or down

I'm guessing you glue the pad to the deck, and then glue the carpet to the pad.  I would say the shiny side of the pad goes down.  If you put the shiny side up it seems water could get trapped beneath the shiny side.

 

Why not send an email to bassboatseats.com?  

Shiny side up, according to the site.  It's a moisture barrier, meant to prevent spills from penetrating the pad.
