Kistler Helium - which actions?

Featured Replies

Ok so the sale is getting me off the dime. Which two of them will be most useful?

My most likely scenario is two rods with me, one spinning and one baitcaster.

They don't appear to have an MH/F - the MH are all XF, as an example.

At the moment I'm more inclined to upgrade the rods I fish with most vs add a third, although I was considering adding something in the jig/frog range.

Longer than 7'1" doesn't fit in the car.

If you were going to pick two as do-it-all, which would you pick?

Pick the He3H70XF that’s a 7’ heavy extra fast rated 3/8-11/2 oz. You can use it for frogs, jigs, light swim baits, pitching & flipping & t rigging worms etc.

For the spinning rod go with the He3-SpLMH-70F. It’s a 7’ light medium heavy fast rated 3/16-7/8 oz. it’s an all purpose rod great for just about everything. I especially like it for treble hook baits because the tip helps keep them pinned once hooked.  If you want a second bait caster get the same rod in a casting rod model He3LMH70F.

I have all three rods so I’m speaking from personal experience.

Totally agree with Dwight’s recommendation but I’d add a 7’1” MH/XF as a third rod. I also love the Light Medium Heavy in a casting rod too. The XF the Helium 3 to me is a great action, it’s closer to a fast then an XF, definitely not like a St Croix XF.
