Shimano NASCI 2500 vs 3000

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

So my friend is getting a new 7 ft medium rod (SPINNING) - He's going to go with the NASCI by Shimano and was told buy the Bass Prop shops guy that the size 3000 would be best for TX rigs/soft plastics since it's a 6:0:1 ratio vs the 2500 (which I usually get/recommended to him) which is 5:0:1 ratio--

Is the BPS guy accurate, which would y'all recommend?

Thanks~!!!!

Yes, he is correct. The 3000 NASCI is a HG reel, whereas the 2500 is a 5.0:1. The 2500 and 3000 share the same frame, but the 3000 has a deeper spool (more line capacity) a paddle style knob on the reel handle. Ultimately, comes down to personal preference regarding gear ratio and handle as they weigh the exact same.

If he wants to save $20, I read the Nasci is exactly the same as the Sahara but with 4 extra seals, which is why the Nasci is rated for saltwater.  Drag, gear ratios, etc are all the same between them.

Core Protect and different bearings are the major differences.
