How would you fish this ?

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, How would you fish this ?

Would you fish this in a rocky, muddy bottom across in the middle of a cove or lake like not along the shore line ?

Is the rubber fat bodied crawfish too big for this jig ?

If I'm not mistaken, that's a swim jig that if you let bounce on the bottom too much will hang up in rocks with that pointed head.  I would be more apt to go with a paddletail plastic in a bluegill color and swim it slowly.  But that's just me.

Wouldn't use that either for bottom hopping through rocks.

Just swim it through the water column or along a hard bottom.

Theres a lot of meat on that thing. Try it, if nothing after awhile and you know they're there, start trimming.

They'll tell you soon enough.

Swimg jig for sure. Built to come through pad stems and other grass. Ill go x2 with @TOXIC Paddle tail on the back of that, fished post spawn close to spawning areas. It will be a great bait to load up the boat with fry guarders, and possibly big females as they move off after spawn.

It's good for weeds with that head. With that weedguard, you can also pitch it into the gnarliest hangups and slowly work it through. It is sized for bigger bass, but little ones will bite it too. You could take a little off the head of the trailer to make it more compact. That's one thing I like about the jig. There is some action from smaller bass while you work your way to the next lunker. Agree with @TOXIC regarding possibly using a paddle tail trailer if you want to swim it.

Swim it or let it sink and reel it but I'd keep that narrow head off the rocks because it will get snagged. That is what football head jigs are good for.

Thank guys.. I never real gave it much thought about it being a grass/weed jig.

Would you think my fat bodied pumpkin/orange crawfish be better suited used as a texas rig rather than hooked to a jig ?
