Outside of ultra light setups for panfish and a med-light for occasional trips for river smallies, I haven't done much fishing with spinning tackle lately, and decided I wanted one, cheap, heavier, general purpose spinning setup. Something that could handle big bass, light walleye trolling, and chase big cats. I ended up with a 7' Med-Heavy Berkley Cherrywood...there are better, but few for $25...and the Okuma Epixor XT 40. I read some positive reviews but have no experience with the reel. Anyone here have any thoughts?

I have one, not quite that large, but the 30 size, and it's been excellent. I've used it for a wide variety of baits and techniques and it's done everything I've needed it to. 

I’m eventually going to put the xt-30 (or get another one when they are available for $33) on a medium powered rod, but right now it’s mated to Duckett Ghost 6’9” MH rod).  Love it!  Actually like it better than couple Presidents I have.  The 30 is surprisingly compact and balances very well with the Ghost.

I have two of the 30's. They seem well-made, and they are smooth.
