4” rod tube to mount on car roof

Featured Replies

I made my 7’4” rod tube and now I need to mount it to my car roof rack. I’ve been having trouble finding U-bolts to fit the 4” tube. Anyone have ideas on where to find them. My local hardware stores don’t carry anything larger than 3.5” U-bolts.

how many rods can you fit in a 4" tube?  seems awful small.  As far as how to mount it to your rack they are pretty easy to find on amazon.

You can also look at these kits as well and I am pretty sure you can get just their saddles and bolts from somewhere as well.  I just didn't feel like looking for them.  I have one of their 8" kits sitting in my garage right now jut waiting to go get the 8" diameter pipe

Take a look at Rhino-Rack LSE100H end cap with 4.312 ID (check your tubing OD), Rhino makes U clamps for thier racks. Check local RV trailer supply co for threaded U clamps to fit 4" ID PVC tubes.

I use bungee chords, radiator clamps, or big zip ties, or in a pinch rope, I am a Sailor after all.
