Quantum icon pt vs. accurist

Featured Replies

I had an older accurist and it was the worst baitcaster I ever owned.

It seemed as if there was no fine tuning the spool adjustments

Either it was braking too much and killing the casting distance or it was blowing up in a birds nest

I had a couple Diawa's at the time and they were hands down better reels.

I have had probably 20 baitcasters since then and it is still the worst one.

I tried to use it again many years later with the same results.

Just my experience and it was awhile ago

I have the icon pt, At it's current pricing I couldn't pass it up. Compared to my Pro Qualifier and my Exceller, it is the farthest casting. I'm fishing from the bank and currently using it for jigs and t-rigs which I do not need long distance. I have accurist pt spinning reels which I purchased five years ago, they still perform like new.

Which do you prefer? The icon pt is on a sale at dicks for 59$ right now and retail is 119$ so I think I’m gonna pick it up

I like it a lot, picked mine up at Walmart for the same price.

I have i icon pt. I’ve had it a few months and so far I’m very pleased with it. Cast well good distance  and good spool control.

im also considering the icon and a rod or the lews mach2 speed spool combo not sure which way to go. its my first baitcaster

I’ve had both and the accurist was a much better reel for me. Once it was set, it was just that....set. No other adjusting other than the spool tension for different size lures. I used it for Texas rigs and Tokyo rigs mostly. The overall smoothness of the reel was night and day when compared to the Icon. The icon to me just felt a heck of a lot lower quality of a reel if that makes sense. Casting distance on it was ok but took a good while to get dialed in. The price of the icon is great. I won’t argue that. But after having both I’d say the accurist is the way to go.
