Hey guys, thought someone here might know.

My buddy just gave me his old trolling motor with is a 54# and is 12/24.

I know to wire it Trolling Motor Pos to battery 1, neg from battery 1 to pos battery 2 and neg battery 2 back to trolling motor.

My question is, there are 3 wires comming out of the trolling motor. Red, Black, White. I know the red is pos, black is neg, but where does this white wire go in the wiring scheme?

Ground? Wire it to the boat? Just guessing at it...

I am not positive about that motor but do not ground it to the boat by no means.. It more then likely goes to the positive of one of the trolling batteries to give you 12 volts and the red run gives you 24 volts.

Thats what I am thinking also Stayncharge,

Probably goes on the positive terminal that has the jumper from the negative.

That is correct diagram you needed. Jones diagrams are really good. You need to do it just like it is on that page. Good job man you did it before I could verify. I am old though. Good luck. ;D ;D ;D
