Best Jig Rod....Dobyns Fury/Sierra

Featured Replies

3/8-1/2 ounce jigs. Fishing mostly around grass and wood. Any feedback would be appreciated.

A 734 or 735 should fit your needs quite nicely

Any substantial differences between the two series?

The 734 will cast easier using jigs in the 1/4-1/2 oz range, the Sierra is a better bottom contact feedback blank then the Fury.

What line do you plan on using?

Thinking about selling my ALX IKOS promise 73 for a Sierra 734. I have a fury 734 that I use for swim jigs chatterbaits and paddle tails. Was considering using the ALX for that and using the fury 734 for jig fishing. If not I would sell the ALX and buy a 734 Sierra. I fish 15-20lb flouro for jigs.

Sierra definitely feels more sensitive in my hands, if the difference in price doesn't bother you then definitely go with the Sierra. With Memorial day sales coming up you can probably get the rod at 15-20% off retail

Agreed. I also feel that it is lighter

I love my Fury 734C. Of course I don't have the money for the Sierra series so maybe that's partially why I like my Fury so much but overall I just think it's hard to beat for $120 (it's even harder to beat when you get an almost new refurb direct from Dobyn's for $85).
