New Spinning setup

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to this forum but I am looking for a new setup, I was looking at the Fenwick Aetos bc I own the HMG and love it. I was also looking at the Shimano Stradic. I love my rods and reels to match. I would be mainly using weightless senkos so what action would work the best.

Stradic, ballistic, tatula.

i have all 3 and they are all great. I have had problems with the Stradics in the past and sent them in only to have them send me a new reel.

I have a St Croix 6ft medium rod and a Penn Battle 2 and use this exclusively for my plastics, mostly weightless. Love the combo.

I liked the action of the Aetos spinning rods I've seen, but I didn't like the handles. So I didn't buy it.  Maybe you'll like it, I don't know.  On further review, looking at my current collection of spinning rods, I don't need another spinning rod right now.

Looking at my current collection of spinning gear I don't like many of the handles.  All of them, with the exception of an old Diawa 6'3" LT )Light & Tough) have been modified. I use tennis racquet over grip tape to  build up the handle a little bit, so it fits better, gives it a better grip and so that the ridges beneath the handle nut don't rub my palm.   I like the look too, all my spinning rods have different color handles.

7' HMG M-Fast, with a Diawa BG 1500 hooked into and and use it for jigging swim baits and throwing Senko's. I wish it was extra fast.
