  1. Been loving the christie craws by Yum.
  2. I'm 30 now and have been fishing ever since I can remember with my dad. I remember being about 10 or so and my brother being 13/14 and my dad would pick us up and bring us to a private pond right next to his work where we knew the owners and people who worked there. We would fish all day until he came and picked us up. We had a little like 10-12ft Jon boat. Caught some really nice bass (5-6lbs). Now my brother is a charter boat captain.
  3. I've watched a lot of YT videos about reviews and upgrades and a lot of people seem to mount stadium style seats.
  4. Yea I think anything I do end up getting, I'm going to upgrade the seat regardless.
  5. I have a St Croix 6ft medium rod and a Penn Battle 2 and use this exclusively for my plastics, mostly weightless. Love the combo.
  6. I do a slow retrieve and in an opening I'll stop it for a second or two. If I get a blow up, I'll let it sit for a few seconds with a twitch or two.
  7. That is partially what I did. As well as looking on here for what was recommended for good brands/models. Then I went to Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc and looked for those specific ones. Found a few eagle talon 12s for ~$300.
  8. Yeah, that is my mistake. I typed the wrong one.
  9. Seen a couple Eagle Talon 12s for $300ish that seem to be like new condition.
  10. Facebook Marketplace is loaded with them. I've seen some Old Towns and Hobie, and Jacksons. Some decent priced Old Towns but I don't know if there good deals or not.
  11. Much appreciated. I'll be sure to look at the hull and for any modification holes to ensure there sealed well. I think I had a good deal on an Eagle Talon 12 the other day for $275 but by the time I checked my messages, it was sold ?
  12. I know there are numerous threads and I’ve read quite a bit recently. I’m looking to find a good deal on a used kayak since I’m in no rush. From my research I’ve come up with a few makes/models to keep an eye out for. Keep in mind I’m 5’8” 190lbs. Pelican Catch 120 Field & Stream Eagle Talon 12 Perception pescador I’ve never owned a kayak so I wanted to find a good deal on a used one incase I don’t like it. In the event I do, I can learn on this and upgrade after a season or two. I’m looking to spend about $500 give or take. Want it to be sit on top. The three I listed from my research seem to be pretty reasonable for that price range. Are there any other males/models I should look out for? When buying used, what are some key things to check/look over? Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!
  13. I looked for them recently at my shop and didn't see them. Want to get one and try it. I don't use my two WPs very often because I haven't had much success. More of a confidence thing in my head I suppose because I do know they catch A LOT of fish for people.
  14. The one private pond I go to when I'm short on time is about 60% weeds. Weightless craw has been my go to and I've been killing it with them. One cast I'll be covered in weeds, the next few minimal.
  15. That I do have. Just seems like 7ft sticking out is a bit much ?
  16. Looking into getting an entry level kayak. Was looking into the Eagle Talon 120 at Dick's. Transporting I would need to figure out too. I have a short bed truck so a 12ft kayak would be a bit of an issue.
  17. Since I just started getting back into bass fishing about a month ago, I was at Dick's and I thought to myself "where are the uncle josh jars?". Didn't know until about 2 weeks ago that they don't make them anymore.
  18. Good idea. I carry a normal sized backpack and have everything I need. I don't switch too often considering I limited how many lures I have. I do carry about 12 bags of plastics though lol
  19. Contemplating on getting one of the smaller ones...not sure I want anything more than my backpack though since I'm a bank fisher but it would open up a pocket and make it easier to sort through ?
  20. I have a UL 5ft rod I use for trout fishing in small streams and I don't really set the hook per say more of a sweeping motion. Maybe give it an extra second or two to ensure they have the bait. From my experience with bluegill/panfish they tend to hold onto the end of the bait a lot of the "hits" versus actually swallowing it.
  21. Interesting. I'm going to try this.
  22. I use 40lb Power Pro on my baitcaster. I use it for anything top water mainly, spinnerbaits, whopper ploppers, frogs, etc. If for some reason I throw a t-rig or wacky on this setup, I'll throw a leader on but that is rare.
