Lew's Custom Speed Stick MH Squarebill Rod Help

Featured Replies

Looking at this rod as a squarebill / chatterbait rod for the kayak. I like the 6'9" length for casting in close and the shorter handle. Interested to hear what folks think of this rod or suggestions for a sub 7' rod under $150 for chatters and squarebills.

Thanks T

The Okuma EVX 6'8" MH/MF-F for $110 fits the bill perfectly for a rod that does both well and is under 7'. One of my favorite rods.

I would suggest a medium for squarebill cranks.

Depends on what size squarebill and where it's being fished.

Its a great rod, as far as having good feel through the water.  It also is great for tossing smaller to medium sized squarebill's, and traps.  I tend to use a MH/F for spinnerbaits/chatter baits - but that's personal preference.  i picked mine up for less than 100 from Outfitters Warehouse back at Xmas. It should work just fine for Chatterbaits as it has good backbone. Let us know what you choose.
