I carry most of the fishing tools mentioned, and maybe its taboo to mention, but am I the only one that carries a gun?

I have, and really love, thes Lwws Custom Speed Stick squarebill rod. Great sensitivity, and fits a good job helping me worm the bait through laydowns. It loads well, on the cast and on fish.

I'm with the previous posters, 610mh would be a good fit, can even do spinnerbaits. You may however be better suited to throw the jerkbaits on your spinning rod - easier to cast, and won't overpower the hooks on them.

Its a great rod, as far as having good feel through the water. It also is great for tossing smaller to medium sized squarebill's, and traps. I tend to use a MH/F for spinnerbaits/chatter baits - but that's personal preference. i picked mine up for less than 100 from Outfitters Warehouse back at Xmas. It should work just fine for Chatterbaits as it has good backbone. Let us know what you choose.

It all depends on how far you want to drive. You are looking at a couple for drive and you'll be at Jordan, Shearon Harris, or Kerr Reservoir/Buggs Island, all near the Raleigh area. There are probably several other smaller lakes that are closer but I'm not familiar with them due to being on the other side of NC. And I can't help with boat rental either. Look at NCKFA for more info on fishing in the eastern part, especially around the Outer Banks.

Ok, so I cant comment on the Topwater, but i do have a Predator PDL and love it. I can stand and fish out of it, and I'm 603 and 255ish - have done it when i was around 280. It seems to be more stable than I am. I havnt tried a Lure but have not heard anything bad about them. I also second on ordering from ACK if you cant get a better deal locally. their packages - kayak, PFD, and paddle - can be some good deals. you maybe able to find a used Predator for under a 1k if you look around, and they can handle a trolling motor mounted fairly easily from what i've seen. I am currently using a 6'9" mh/f Veritas 2.0 as my spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. It has been really good paired with a Revo S 6.4:1. It has got me two of my biggest bass this year. Two me the rod does feel a little more stout, but the tip is soft enuf to make accurate casts from the yak. Just my 0.02.

Variety is the spice of life...or so I've been told. I have an assortment of Rattlin' Rapala's, along with a few original rat-l-traps, and some RES. i hope to get to fish them more this fall and spring.

As the title asks, which one do you all prefer. Who has experience with which model, pro's and cons...This is going on my Predator PDL, I found out this past weekend that the way i had tried to affix my transducer to the transom did not work at all. I have also contacted Garmin to see if the sell/will send me the older style metal bracket that will fit the pre-drilled holes on the transom. At least this way I will have options at my disposal.

Ok guys, this is going to be a multi part question. Feel free to come I if you have experience with any of the following. I jabbed an Old Town Predator PDL and am wanting to put a fish finder on it. There is an accessory from Old Town that is compatible with Humminbird units that mount news the front. I am leaning more towards the Garmin echo map plus 63cv and am curious how much" retro fitting" ill hafta do to get this to fit. Next question is, does the LakeVu maps work with the Humminbird units. The LakeVu Map list contains more of my local lakes than Navionics and Lakemaster, although Lakemaster is close. Thanks for any input.

they are only a dollar or two at walmart. the only time i use a zip lock bag is to store them in the freezer in a little bit of salt water - not sure why but thats what my uncle taught me

I have always just kept them on a stringer till I got to the truck then in a cooler. To gut them I just cut the head off, make a slit up the gut then take the entrails out. After that I put a couple small cubes of butter with lemon pepper garlic salt and onion salt in the cavity. Wrap up in aluminum foil and throw on the grill or coals of a fire for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the fish and how hot the fire is. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, can any of yall point me in the direction of a deep sea fishing charter around Surf Side/Murrells Inlet area. My brother in law is wanting to go when we go down in May and I would love to put him on some fish. Would also like to see how his sea legs are lol. I'm still kinda new to the salt am an not sure of all the seasons, but would like to get him on some mackerel or dolphin,if they're in. Thanks in advance, will let you know how it goes.

Glad you told me, I like the little 8 to 12 inch trout and two to three lbs cats. Never had the chance to keep a bass that small very many times.

had it happen - it sucks. last one with the small pond/lake i fish the fish aint that big, but there are two huge turtles that hang around and i believe that i gave them an easy meal to grow larger. last i saw the turtles they were 15 to 20 lbs a piece. if the bass were bigger i would keep 'n cook no problem. also its a neighborhood lake and i am not sure how clean they are.

I'm with gimruis, a 6 or 7A bomber or 7 shad rap. if I could bring a whole bag of soft plastics it would probably be some Zoom U tails since i could texas/carolina rig or easily put on a shakey head.

Sounds like you got a good set up. I had just picked up a BB1 in 5.1:1 left hand from Cabelas, was on sale for 99. It can cast a mile - even light baits. Got it paired with a Lews TP-1 cranking rod. Hope all works well let us know what your impressions are.

It even has a place to hold a second rod while you walk around. They also have a bigger one that could carry everything half of a BPS store, lol.

I used to use Trilene or Stren, whichever was on sale. Tried Sufix on a buddies recommendation and am in the process of switching all my line to it. Less wind knots on spinning gear and smoother on baitcasters.

I have the left hand model of yours and absolutely love it. Now it did take a little bit to get used to, but once dialed in it cast great. My problem was starting out with cheap 10# mono, stepped up to some descent 12# and paired with a ghost crankbait rod and use it mainly for 1/4 oz cranks and weightless flukes.
