First tournament is tomorrow. Won’t get to precise. Small lake, no structure. Water should be 2’-4’ visibility.

 

question: I have three colors of jack hammers: white, black/blue, and bhite delight. Only have 2 rods for chatterbaits tomorrow. Fish from 7-11amWhat two do I throw?

Make my point more clear

Go with all your regular gear and make the decision based on what you see when you show up.  I've found red shad to be a decent muddy water worm color.   For chatterbaits, I don't think you can go wrong with while/chartruese.   I've used many different trailers trying to find "the one".  That being said, I go through 2 or 3 bags of BPS Cajun trailers in the white/chartruese tip color nearly every year.  If you want a little longer trailer and if you can find them, Gene Larew Ring Shad has had its moments for me.

I'd start with the bhite delight and see how much visibility there is tomorrow.

If its hard to see you might wanna try the black and blue.

 

Just dont pigeon hole yourself into thinking that white wont work when its dirty or black wont work when its clear water.

Let the fish tell you and if one is not working than switch.

 

My best luck with chatterbait type lures have come in areas that have cover and/or structure and/or wind blowing on it.

bhite delight............

I always, always, always, use a chatterbait with chartreuse in the skirt as my first choice, I hardly ever have to go to a second choice. 

 

I use Keiteck 3.8 Fat Impacts for my trailer on chatters..........I've found that color doesn't really matter but whether or not they have flake does.

Should I use it with or without flakes

I started playing around with different skirts and green pumpkin with chartreuse strands is really productive.  I have yet to get into the Jack hammer but it resembles bhite delight.  I Iike it with a green pumpkin z craw jr as a trailer.  

 

*Note that my water is full of blue gill.  Shad water white/chart and a 3.8 are hard to beat.

When it's sunny I use flakes, when it's not I don't.   Not very scientific on my part but it tends to work out.

But..........I was just fishing with a buddy a few days ago and we were not doing well even though conditions said we should and we were fishing where the fish were supposed to be.  We got a good laugh when I mentioned that the fish apparently don't read the same magazines and forums as us.

That's the system I use, sun reflects flakes better, and cloudy, low light matte shows up better.
