I would like to put a hot foot on my boat,  and was wondering if any of you guys have installed one.  

Have seen several on ebay, but they only come with the foot control.  Seems like you should be able to buy a kit to install them, or will your existing throttle cable work with the hot foot?

What are the pitfalls that I should be aware of?

The existing cable did not work on my Skeeter. When you buy, get it all at one time. It will be a nightmare trying to piece it together. Make sure you get the correct length for the cable. Do not try to make it work if the length is off. Buy the complete kit and you should have no problems.

And leave your stick cable coiled in the back.

Now, where do I measure from to determine which kit  or length cable I need, or do you buy for a certain length boat and size motor?

I need it for a 15 ft. Skeeter with a 70 HP mercury.

Measure your old cable, and the hotfoot instructions says to get one two feet longer than the current one.
